In-house Dynojet tuning, cam packages, long-tube headers, and forced induction for GM LS and LT trucks, SUVs, and cars, built and quoted for your exact combination in Queen Creek, Arizona.

APA Custom Shop is an owner-run performance and tuning shop in Queen Creek, Arizona, built by gearheads with decades of combined automotive and motorsport experience. We specialize in the GM LS and LT platform and back it with an in-house Dynojet dyno, HP Tuners calibration, cam and header work, forced induction, and real fabrication skill. We are rated 4.6 stars across 60 Google reviews, and we treat your build like it is our own: straight advice, quality work, and a plan that actually fits how you drive.

What APA Builds on the GM LS and LT Platform

The GM LS and LT V8 is one of the most rewarding engines to modify, and it lives in just about everything GM makes: Silverado and Sierra trucks, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and Escalade SUVs, plus Camaro, Corvette, and the sedans. We work on the whole family, from a mild daily-driver wake-up to a serious power build.

Whether you are starting with a stock 5.3, a 6.0, a 6.2, or an LS swap already in progress, we help you pick a direction that fits how you actually use the vehicle and what you want out of it. Nothing here is a fixed menu, we spec the parts to your combination.

  • ECU tuning with HP Tuners, including custom dyno tunes and remote calibrations
  • Cam packages spec'd to your combination, including parts from Texas Speed and Performance
  • Long-tube headers and full exhaust
  • Supercharger and turbo installs for forced induction
  • Engine builds plus LS and LT swaps
  • Custom fabrication for one-off setups
  • Supporting suspension, brakes, and alignment work, including RideTech components
  • Diagnostics on our own equipment before and after the build

Stage It Right: Tune, Bolt-Ons, Then Boost

There is a smart order to building an LS or LT, and following it saves you money and headaches. We think about it in stages. Start with a tune to unlock what the engine already has. Add bolt-ons like a cam, long-tube headers, and intake with a tune to match. Then step into forced induction when you are ready for a bigger jump.

These stages are a framework, not fixed part numbers or promised power figures. We build the package around your engine, your goals, and your budget, and we quote your exact combination before any wrenches turn. Ask us about current options for your specific vehicle.

  • Foundation: a custom tune on the factory long-block to sharpen throttle, shift quality, and drivability
  • Bolt-ons: cam package, long-tube headers, intake, and exhaust with a tune to match
  • Forced induction: a supercharger or turbo with the fueling, cooling, and tuning to support it
  • Built for boost: forged internals and a stronger short-block when your goals call for it

Why the Tune Is the Whole Ballgame

You can bolt on the best parts in the world, but the factory ECU was calibrated for a stock engine and stock targets, not your new cam and headers. Skip the tune and you can leave power on the table, fight a rough idle and drivability quirks, or put the engine somewhere you do not want it. The tune is what makes the parts work together as a package.

We tune on our own Dynojet dyno so we can watch the engine under load and verify the results, and we also offer remote HP Tuners calibrations when you cannot get to the shop. Either way, the file is built for your specific combination, never pulled off a shelf.

Let's Quote Your Exact GM Build

The best next step is a conversation. Tell us your vehicle, your engine, what you have already done, and where you want to end up, and we will map out a realistic path and quote the exact build. No generic packages, no guessing at your combination.

Call APA Custom Shop at (602) 762-4916 or stop by 22375 S Scotland Ct Suite 105 in Queen Creek. We are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:30. When you reach out, Tiffany can help get you on the schedule, and Sean or Jared can talk through where your LS or LT build should start.

Questions

GM Performance Packages — FAQ

Do I need a tune after adding a cam or long-tube headers to my LS or LT?

Yes. On the GM platform, swapping in a cam, long-tube headers, or a different intake changes airflow, and the factory ECU cannot fully account for it on its own. A custom tune, either on our Dynojet dyno or through a remote HP Tuners file, dials in fuel, spark, and idle so the parts work together and the vehicle drives right. We tune it for your exact combination, not a generic file.

Can you tune my GM truck or SUV remotely if I cannot get to Queen Creek?

Yes. We offer remote tuning with HP Tuners. You log the vehicle, send us the data, and we build and revise the calibration for your setup. In-person dyno tuning is still the most thorough option because we can verify results under load, so ask us which route fits your build and goals when you call.

What is the difference between LS and LT tuning and builds?

Both are GM V8 families, and both respond well to tuning, cams, headers, and boost. The newer LT engines use direct injection and features like cylinder deactivation that change how we approach the calibration and the parts. We tune and build both. Tell us your exact engine and vehicle and we will spec the right path.

Will you put my build on the dyno?

We run an in-house Dynojet dyno, so we can baseline your GM, make tuning pulls, and verify the finished result on our own equipment. Dyno time also lets us catch issues safely before you are leaning on the throttle out on the street. Ask about dyno tuning when you call.
