Join the APA crew

Build real horsepower with a crew that cares about doing it right. APA Custom Shop is an owner-run performance and tuning shop in Queen Creek, Arizona, and we are always looking for talented gearheads.

We are a performance and tuning shop, not a lube-and-go. Our days run on dyno pulls, custom fabrication, engine work and dialed-in tunes. If you live for building fast, reliable cars and you want to work alongside people who take the craft seriously, we want to hear from you. The team here brings decades of combined automotive and motorsport experience, and we are always glad to add another sharp set of hands.

The kind of people we hire

We build our team around passion and attention to detail. Whether you turn wrenches, run a welder, or write tunes, we are looking for gearheads who treat a customer build like it is their own. Experience matters, but so does the attitude - honesty, curiosity, and a real drive to keep learning.

We are always happy to talk with people who are serious about performance work. If that sounds like you, reach out even if you do not see a specific opening listed right now.

  • Performance technicians comfortable with installs, diagnostics and forced induction work
  • Fabricators handy with a welder for headers, exhaust and one-off custom pieces
  • Tuners who know their way around HP Tuners and want real dyno time
  • Anyone with a strong performance background and the right attitude

What you would work on

This is hands-on performance work across a wide range of platforms. In a given week the shop is running our in-house Dynojet dyno, dialing in ECU tunes with HP Tuners, and knocking out cam packages, long-tube headers, exhaust, supercharger and turbo installs, engine builds and swaps.

We also handle custom fabrication, suspension, brakes and alignments, plus diagnostics and remote tuning. We work with names we trust like RideTech, Dynojet, HP Tuners and Texas Speed and Performance, and we do Mopar ECU unlocking in-house. The exact projects change with what rolls through the door, so ask us about what is on the lift right now.

  • Dyno tuning, ECU tuning and remote tuning
  • Engine builds, swaps and forced induction installs
  • Custom fabrication, long-tube headers and exhaust
  • Suspension, brakes, alignments and diagnostics

What we are about

We are owner-run and we keep it honest - with our customers and with each other. Craftsmanship is the bar. We would rather take the time to do a job right than push it out the door, and that attention to detail shows up on every build that leaves the shop.

That standard is a big part of our reputation, reflected in a 4.6 out of 5 rating across 60 Google reviews. When you join the crew, you are joining people who genuinely care about the work.

  • Sean, owner and tuner, who lives for chasing clean, reliable power on the dyno
  • Tiffany, who keeps the front office, scheduling and customers squared away
  • Jared, a technician and fabricator who is happiest with a project up on the lift

Questions

Careers — FAQ

Do I need formal certifications to get hired?

Formal training and certifications are a plus, but what matters most to us is real hands-on ability and the right attitude. If you have a strong performance background, we want to talk regardless of how you picked up your skills.

Do you hire tuners, or is tuning kept in-house only?

We do our own tuning in-house on our Dynojet dyno with HP Tuners, and we are always interested in talking with skilled tuners who want dyno time and remote tuning work. Reach out and tell us about your experience and the platforms you know best.

What if you are not actively hiring when I reach out?

We still want to know about good people. Send a resume or give us a call - when the right spot opens up we would rather already know you than start from scratch. Our needs change over time, so it never hurts to ask what is open right now.
