F-150 Performance Packages

Custom ECU tuning, bolt-ons, and forced induction for the 5.0 Coyote and 3.5 EcoBoost, built and dyno-proven in Queen Creek, Arizona.

The F-150 is one of the most tunable trucks on the road, and APA Custom Shop builds them for real Arizona use, whether that is a daily driver, a weekend tow rig, or a truck you want to wake up. We work both of the popular platforms: the naturally aspirated 5.0 Coyote and the twin-turbo 3.5 EcoBoost. Each responds differently to modifications, so we start with your goals, your gearing, and how you actually drive, then map out a build that gets there without leaving money or reliability on the table. Everything is tuned and verified on our in-house Dynojet dyno, and we can quote your exact combination when you call (602) 762-4916.

What We Build for the F-150 5.0 and 3.5 EcoBoost

Both F-150 engines have deep aftermarket support, and APA covers the full range from a first custom tune to a fully built truck. The 5.0 loves airflow and rpm, so it rewards intakes, headers, exhaust, and eventually a supercharger. The 3.5 EcoBoost already has turbos from the factory, which means smart tuning and supporting mods can unlock a lot before you ever touch the hardware. We tune with HP Tuners and, where the platform calls for it, handle Mopar-style ECU unlocking and remote tuning for out-of-town trucks.

We handle the wrench work in house too, so your tune, hardware, and fabrication all come from one shop that has to stand behind the whole build.

  • Custom ECU tuning on HP Tuners, dialed in on our Dynojet dyno
  • Remote tuning for trucks we cannot get on the lift in person
  • Bolt-ons: intakes, long-tube headers, and exhaust
  • Supercharger and turbo installs and upgrades
  • Engine builds, swaps, and custom fabrication
  • Suspension, brakes, and alignments for how the truck is actually loaded
  • Diagnostics to sort out drivability, codes, and towing gremlins

The Stage Approach: Tune, Bolt-Ons, Then Forced Induction

Think of an F-150 build in layers rather than one big leap. A custom tune is almost always the best first dollar spent, because it makes the truck drive better right away and sets the foundation for everything after. From there, bolt-ons add airflow and sound, and forced induction is where the big gains live once the supporting parts are in place. We size each step to your budget and your goals so you are never buying parts you have to throw away later.

These are a way to talk through the build, not fixed off-the-shelf kits. Ask about current options and we will map your exact truck.

  • Foundation: a custom tune to sharpen throttle, shift feel, and drivability
  • Bolt-ons: intake, headers, and exhaust to add airflow, then retune
  • Forced induction: a supercharger on the 5.0 or turbo and hardware upgrades on the 3.5, with a full supporting package and a fresh tune

Why the Tune Is the Part That Ties It Together

Bolt-ons and boost only do their job when the ECU knows what to do with the new hardware. A proper custom tune is where fueling, timing, throttle response, and, on the EcoBoost, boost control all get matched to your parts, your fuel, and Arizona heat. That is also what protects the engine when you are towing up a grade in July instead of cruising an empty highway.

Because everything is verified on our in-house Dynojet, you get real, measured results instead of guesses, and we can retune as your build changes. We work with proven partners like Dynojet, HP Tuners, RideTech, and Texas Speed and Performance so the parts and the calibration are on the same page.

Quote Your Exact F-150 Build

Every truck is a little different, so we do not throw generic numbers at you. Tell us the engine, the year, your fuel, your gearing, and what you want the truck to do, and we will lay out a build and quote it honestly. APA is an owner-run shop with decades of combined automotive and motorsport experience, and the same crew that plans your build is the one that turns the wrenches and runs the dyno.

Call (602) 762-4916 or stop by 22375 S Scotland Ct Suite 105 in Queen Creek, Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 5:30. You will likely deal with Sean on tuning and dyno strategy, Jared on the build and fabrication side, and Tiffany up front getting you scheduled.

Questions

F-150 Performance Packages — FAQ

Should I tune my F-150 5.0 or 3.5 EcoBoost first, before adding parts?

In most cases yes. A custom tune is usually the best first step on either engine because it improves how the truck drives right away and gives us a clean baseline. As you add bolt-ons or boost, we retune so the calibration always matches the current hardware. We can walk you through the right order for your specific truck when you call.

Will a tune actually help when I am towing?

It can make a real difference in how the truck feels under load, including throttle response and shift behavior, and a proper tune helps keep things in a safe range in Arizona heat. The exact result depends on your engine, gearing, fuel, and what you are pulling, so we tune for how you actually use the truck rather than a one-size setting.

Do I need supporting mods before a supercharger or turbo upgrade?

Usually, yes. Forced induction asks more of the fuel system, cooling, and often the drivetrain, so a proper supporting package is what makes the power both usable and reliable. We will spec the right supporting parts for your goals and current options before quoting a boosted build.

Can you tune my F-150 remotely, or do I need to bring it in for the dyno?

We offer both. Remote tuning works well for a lot of F-150 combinations if you cannot get to Queen Creek, while in-house Dynojet dyno tuning lets us verify results and fine-tune under real load. Call (602) 762-4916 and we will tell you which approach fits your truck and build.
